Glühwein Ingredients: 1 Liter Red Wine 1/8 Liter water 60 grams sugar (approx 2oz) 1/4 stick cinnamon 3 cloves Peelings of half a lemon or two lemon slices Preparation: Bring the sugar, spices and water to a boil. (instead of the water experts say that you really should use red wine for a better flavour) Then let this mixture steep for 30 minutes. Finally, mix in the remainder of the red wine and carefully reheat to just under boiling point. Zutaten: 1 Liter Rotwein 1/8 Liter Wasser 6o Gramm Zucker 1/4 Stange Zimt 3 Gewürznelken Schale einer halben Zitrone oder 2 Scheiben Zitrone Zubereitung: Zucker und Gewürze mit Wasser (anstatt des Wassers sollten Sie Rotwein nehmen - das gibt einen besseren Geschmack) aufkochen, 30 Minuten ziehen lassen, abseihen, mit dem Rotwein vermischen und vorsichtig bis kurz vor dem Siedepunkt erhitzen.

Deposit Once availability is confirmed, a 25% deposit is payable by cheque or postal order, mailed to P. & P. Goerman, "Riverbend", Nelligen NSW 2536. You may also pay by PayPal. The deposit is non-refundable if the booking is cancelled within four weeks of the arrival date unless the accommodation can be relet. However, the non-refundable portion remains current for twelve months if a suitable alternative date can be nominated. The balance is payable on arrival in CASH (sorry but we do not have credit card facilities).

We offer special rates during the "low season" for rentals of two weeks and more. Please email us, stating when and for how long you would like to stay.

OUTSIDE Dogs welcome Your OUTSIDE - repeat OUTSIDE - dogs are welcome at "Riverbend" but you must at all times: keep them under your supervision accept liability for any damage or accident caused by or to them ensure they do NOT enter the Cottage. P.S. All dogs who have visited us, from dachshund to Doberman, have given us a very "PAWsitive" rating!

"Health Warning" Riverbend Cottage does not compete with establishments whose toilet seats are wrapped in cute little "Sanitized for your convenience" covers or who dull your senses with Muzak and the drone of air-conditioning (our "air-conditioning" is the gentle breeze coming off the river). Our TV reception is limited to the ABC (however, you have a choice of over 300 good videos - all without commercial breaks!) And there are plenty of books to read (you remember books, don't you? they are like DVDs with pages) Once here, you may even relax enough not to miss your mobile because, guess what, it won't work here. However, we gladly take your messages on our phone or let you receive and send messages on the Internet if you're the President of the United States or some other important person who is totally indispensable to the running of the world. Our guests from the city always enthuse about the air here. It's fresh and composed mainly of oxygen and nitrogen, unlike what they are used to. They fall asleep almost immediately, their bodies exhausted from the lack of carbon monoxide and lead they have come to depend on. This is a pristine bushland setting on the water's edge, so please wear sensible footwear and behave in a responsible manner. We'd be happy to leave it at that but since some people employ such a good team of lawyers, we also require you to read and accept the following Risk Warning. It is quiet here and very peaceful and you're the only guest. Instead of having to listen to somebody else's snoring or be "entertained" by some ablution noise in the room next door, you may hear the occasional possum wander over your roof at night or be surprised by a little green frog looking at you from under the bathroom door. All this sensory deprivation may come as a shock to you and we suggest that, as a rough guide, if your chronological (or mental) age is less than 40 (this used to be 30 but a recent encounter with a youngish couple made us think that 40 is probably a better age), you will probably lack the appreciation of being miles away from McDonald's and the sounds of an infternal combustion engine. To all you others and to those who want to recover their energy and rediscover themselves, please come and stay and stay long, sit quietly, breathe deeply, and listen to the river, to the birds, to YOURSELF!
